Grades 3-5: 

One of the first things that happens in primary education is the students’ connection to Basic Electronics, where they learn the foundation of these two sciences. During this, the kids are allowed to introduce themselves to AI with the help of block-based coding. Learning code and hands-on work with electronic components are among the activities of component-based projects that offer them the first ideas in a cool and exciting way. This is the first influence of creativity and the establishment of a solid foundation for further studies.

Grades 6-8:

Whenever children go to middle school, the curriculum becomes detailed, which later will include the use of intermediate projects that involve sensors, motors, and some basic automation systems. Moreover, this course also includes Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and  Internet of Things (IoT), where kids discover how interconnected devices can communicate and act in concert. In addition to this, the students will analyze and explain exact examples of electronics and robotics as they are used in the real world, thus gaining new capabilities to creatively solve a problem or modify a technology in daily life.

Grades 9-12: 

When students are in high school, they are involved in more demanding projects such as Arduino-Based Programming and Integration. They get a lot of practice with their hands when they are programming sensors, motors, and other components. In this stage, in addition to electronics, they are introduced to advanced topics including Robotics, 3D Printing, Coding, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Students become proficient in hacking, making, and experiencing the brave new world of the latest technologies with such projects. With these they are helping to meet the real-world challenges of technology and be the innovators of the different areas.

Directive for Schools

It has been the resolution of the 139th session of the Governing Body of the CBSE that each School affiliated to the Board shall mandatorily have a Composite Skill Lab. The schools are allowed either to obtain a single Composite Skill Lab of 600 sq. ft. area for classes VI-XII or two different labs of 400 sq. ft. area each, one for classes VI–X and the other for classes XI–XII.

Implementation Plan

For Newly Affiliated Schools: A Composite Skill Lab with all relevant apparatus and machinery shall be an essential requirement of all schools seeking fresh affiliation with CBSE.

For Already Affiliated Schools: Schools already affiliated with CBSE shall establish a Composite Skill Lab with all relevant apparatus and machinery within three years from the date of the circular, that is 23rd Aug 2024.
